Is it an emergency
If you know what your kitten is like when he’s healthy, it’s reasonably easy to spot any problems as soon as they arise.
The typical warning signs to look out for include unusual sleepiness, apparent weakness and loss of appetite. Always believe what you see because, unlike children, kittens are not known for feigning illness. After all, there’s no chance of a day off school. Once you think you have spotted something, just keep an eye on him. If any symptoms persist beyond a day or two, make sure that you seek help immediately. Don’t be shy about it either. Vets would much rather be called out too soon than too late. And one last thing, never attempt to treat your kitten with drugs which haven’t been prescribed by a professional.
In case of serious injury
If your kitten is involved in an accident, the first thing to do is to keep calm. Panicking will certainly not help and could cause him even greater harm. Examine the injury carefully. If he has swallowed something, or has large wounds, bruises or burns, you should take him to the vet immediately.
