Safe and secure outdoors

Your kitten should always wear a collar and identification tag with your telephone number on it.

If he gets confused or scared, he can easily get lost, so it’s best to keep him indoors when there’s a thunderstorm or during firework displays.

Far too many kittens go missing, never to be seen again, so it makes sense to take as many precautions as possible. One option you may want to consider is to get your kitten permanently tagged with an identifying microchip inserted, painlessly, under the skin.

If he does go missing, first check with your neighbours, then your local veterinary clinics, animal welfare organisations and animal shelters. Contact these organisations in neighbouring areas, too. You’ll be surprised how far a lost kitten can travel.
